ONE TITANIC TEAM Limited Edition Pin Badge

The 31st May 2011 sees the 100th anniversary of the launch of the most famous ship the world has ever seen. RMS Titanic slipped into Belfast Lough for the first time on Wednesday 31st May 1911. Davy Lyner

The ship came to life under the huge Arrol gantry only a stones away throw from the Oval, the home of Glentoran Football Club. Census records of 1911 indicate that no less than eight of the Glentoran team that would win the Irish League in 1911-1912 were employed in Belfast’s shipbuilding industry at the time of the launch of RMS Titanic.

To commemorate the anniversary of the launch and the association between Belfast shipbuilding Glentoran Football Club the Glentoran Community Trust has released a limited edition pin badge (left) for the occasion.

Based around the distinctive "White Star" logo of the ship’s owners White Star Line and carrying the names of the Glentoran players employed in the city’s shipyards at the time of the launch this classic pin badge will be on sale from Saturday 16th April at The Oval priced at £3 each. Also available to purchase on line by Paypal.
