04/09/07 GCT Ormeau Park Festival - 125 Commemorative Match Draw ...

On Saturday 24th February 2007, in front of a packed audience at the Park Avenue Hotel Belfast, the two sides were drawn for the 7th October Supporters 125th Anniversary game at Ormeau Park Belfast. Hosted by Philip Stevenson, the 'Legends' match co-ordinator, the draw was then made by the two 'Supporters' teams captains Stephen and David Lowry, grandsons of 1940's/50's Glentoran great Sammy Lowry. Stephen Lowry will captain Glentoran Nettlefield whilst David Lowry will captain Glentoran Oakfield.

“Glentoran Oakfield” We are delighted to announce today that Glentoran Oakfield will be managed by the most successful Glentoran manager of all time ROY COYLE Based on Glentoran's 1902 shirt, Oakfield will play in green shirts with red ‘V’, white shorts and black socks.

“Glentoran Nettlefield” Not to be outdone, we are also delighted to reveal that Glentoran Nettlefield will be managed by the other half of the most successful partnership in Glentoran history, Roy Coyle's assistant JIMMY BROWN. Wearing a turn-of-the-century version of the most popular Glens shirt of all time, Nettlefield will play in white shirts with a red, green, and black hoop, black shorts and white socks

Goalkeepers will play in yellow/red but will also be provided with an outfield shirt as part of their overall package.

REFEREE ...

Herbie Barr Chairman of the Northern Ireland Schools F.A. and former Irish League referee has agreed to referee the game. His assistants will be announced later.

MATCH BALLS ...

The Match Balls, two specially designed modern footballs created in brown leather with laces have now been sponsored by Mr Eddie Devlin.
