Glentoran Community Trust are delighted to present the latest in our GCTretro range, with the release of the very popular White 1982 "3-stripe" Glentoran shirt.

In 1982 the Glentoran FC / Clock Shop sponsorship deal was running into difficulties, and the Glens signed up with a company called ''Leisure Automatic Sales Ltd'' as sponsorship became an integral part of football income.

The contract however dissolved as the company fell into the hands of the receiver only two months after signing the deal. On the field that season a star studded Glentoran side had been further enhanced by the acquisition of Barney Bowers from Cliftonville and Dermot Keely from Dundalk. Keely was a no nonsense centre-half would didn't take long to endear himself to the Glentoran support. Bowers too would go on to achieve great things with this talented squad.

Both Johnny Jameson and Jim Cleary were included in Billy Bingham's Northern Ireland squad to travel to Spain for the World Cup Finals once the season had ended.

Despite this being the Glens 100th year in existence, only one trophy, the Ulster Cup would head to the east. It was the season however of the prestige friendly, with the Glens coming up against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Leeds United, Liverpool and Norwich City all in an eight month period.
